Planning the Perfect Intimate Wedding

There’s no such thing as the perfect wedding for everyone. We’re all different, we all have different ideas about what would be ideal for us. Some people love the idea of a huge themed wedding, perhaps celebrating their relationship or the things they’re interested in. But some people prefer a more intimate occasion.

There’s nothing wrong with either option and a smaller, more intimate wedding might suit you better as a couple. A smaller wedding is also usually less expensive, unless you go for a destination wedding, so you can save up for your marriage.

But just because a wedding is more intimate, it doesn’t mean it's any less important. Planning a small wedding is generally easier than a large wedding because you don’t have to think about as many people. But it still requires some planning.

The Rings

One of the most traditional aspects of a wedding has to be the engagement and wedding rings. Diamond rings are most traditional for getting engaged, but they often come with a high financial and ethical cost.

It’s a good idea to shop around and find the best diamond stores online before settling on an engagement ring. If the proposal is a surprise, it’s still a good idea to try to work out what kind of ring your significant other would like. Otherwise, consider planning the ring together so that they can help design their ring.

Other ring options include reusing heritage rings in your family, finding pre-loved rings in second-hand stores, or even finding a different tradition entirely.

The Venue

With a smaller wedding, you have a lot more options for the perfect venue. You need to consider where the legal marriage will take place and where the reception will be. This can be all in the same venue, like a hotel with the right licensing, or two different places.

While you have more options, you still need to make sure that you tick the right boxes.

The first thing to consider is the capacity and the guest list. This is where you’ll first notice the advantage of a smaller wedding because a smaller guest list means you will have more venues available.

You also need to measure your budget with the picture in your mind of the perfect venue. The venue should also be in the right location. If your wedding is somewhere else from the reception venue, make sure they’re nearby so guests don’t have to drive for miles between locations.

The Food

Catering is one of the most tricky things to navigate when you’re having a large wedding. Even with a smaller wedding, it’s still important to be prepared. Work out allergies among your guests so that you can have an inclusive menu.

You also need to consider how to serve your guests. If you go to a restaurant for your reception, your guests can either look after themselves or take advantage of a special menu. Otherwise, you can hire caterers or even ask guests to provide for a buffet.

These are just some ideas for why an intimate wedding can be good for you.
