There is a lot that goes into planning a wedding, and now that you have found your love it’s time to find your wedding colors. The important details are ingrained in the colors of your big day. The way that you decorate the venue, the colors you put on the backs of the chairs, even the flowers in the lapels of the groomsmen all depends on the color palette that you choose as a couple when you start planning your wedding.

It’s one of the most important decisions to make, because it can even influence whether your groom wears a black suit or a charcoal grey wedding suit with a top hat and tails. The bride, you might find that the colors you choose for your day influence the color of your bouquet. With this in mind, there are some easy tips that you need for choosing which colors work best for both traditional styles and non-traditional for your wedding day.

  • Consider the season. When are you planning to get married? If you are getting married in the summertime, then bright, beautiful colors like yellow or orange are perfect for your wedding day. If you’re planning to get married at Christmas time, you may even settle for a Christmas theme with green and gold and red being your main colors. It’s important that you choose something that matches, but if you’re thinking about being not so traditional then having bright yellow in the winter is absolutely your call.

  • Do you have a theme? Some people have a theme in mind for their wedding, statues and colors that fit the same should be a priority. For example, a grey wedding suit often looks much better with pastel wedding colors compared to a black wedding suit with deeper colors such as plum or burgundy.

  • Think about your wedding tone. Some weddings are formal, elegant and beautiful with black tie and cocktail dresses. Other weddings are more casual, like a backyard barbecue bash! Whatever the tone may be for your wedding, the colors that you choose should reflect this. You should consider what kind of wedding you are having and then pick your colors from there because it can help you to be more precise in your wedding color choices.

  • Consider the mood. Do you want something romantic and peaceful or bright and cheerful with lots of love music? The colors you choose will play a role in the setting, so think about purples and silver for that romantic, mystical mood versus bright blues and yellows for something cheerful and loud.

  • Make sure the colors flatter everyone. If you have a diverse guest list, then you want to choose colors that everybody will look good in. Put your groomsmen and your bridesmaids to the forefront of your mind when you make this decision because it’s going to impact your photographs if they don’t look happy and comfortable within them. Their wedding outfit should look beautiful and suit them so that they don’t feel like they are playing dress up.
