Whatever the style of wedding you want, no matter how big or small, you will be sure to encounter some challenges during the planning process. But what might some of these challenges be, and how can you overcome them to design your ideal day? We take a look.

Venue

Getting the perfect venue for your New Jersey wedding should straightforward and easy, right? Unfortunately, with so many possible venues, this isn’t always the case. Considering a venue that can accommodate your guests, is available on your day, and is within your wedding budget can be quite the challenge. Not to mention choosing a place that feels right to you for such a momentous occasion.

Most importantly, start looking at wedding venues as soon as the wedding planning starts and book a visit to the venues that meet your requirements. Before you go, make a list of priorities and questions to ensure that you book a venue that is practical for the big day. This is one thing you don’t want to leave to chance.

The little things

There can be so many unknown small details in your wedding that probably go unnoticed initially. Logistics like how your guests will travel from the wedding ceremony venue to the wedding reception venue, and the name cards on each table at your wedding brunch, there is so much to think about. 

Speak to friends who have already been through it, make some lists, and try cover any ground you may have missed with your new fiance. If you can afford a large wedding, you may want to consider hiring a wedding planner. When it comes to weddings, teamwork really can make YOUR dream work!

Weather

Depending on when and where you are getting married, there may be different expectations of what the weather will be doing. However, Mother Nature doesn’t always have the same idea, and while a summer wedding sounds amazing, summer is no guarantee of a dry day.

Remembering to plan for every eventuality can be difficult, but being prepared is better than being caught out. Providing umbrellas for rain and parasols for sun might feel like a pain, but it could be an essential part of you and your guests’ comfort. 

Try not to plan things that are entirely dependent on sunshine, and speak to your venue about alternatives if the weather is different to what you expect. You should be in constant communication with the venue just in case you need to make the call to move your wedding indoors, so that they’re not rushing on the big day.

Money

Your finances will dictate almost every element of your wedding, so making a budget is a vital part for a successfully planned wedding. Be sure to allow for a small amount of wiggle room, but make sure that your personal budget covers all the essentials, and the little extras, so there are no nasty surprises along the way. 

If money is tight, then think carefully about ways to cut costs where possible – choosing a DJ over a band can save you thousands.
